How come there is no sex in your relationship?

This is not very clear. Are you still in the relationship and want to split? Or did you just split and now concerned about having sex too soon?
If you are still in a relationship, split first, then seek sex.
If you have just split and now single, then as @Tallerandtall said, do as you wish.

Why not treat it as the world's longest edging session?

If you're not officially split and living apart you should wait. Don't create more mess in your life than you have to.

When I split, I was still living in same house as neither could afford to move out while the house was sold. I was climbing the walls for about 8 months and just decided to DtD with a friend (his place obvs) who had become my divorce buddy. But, we had split, so my advice is to do that first and then have your fun!

I waited about a week after we'd had the final conversation. I had already been talking to a few men online, which I'm not proud of, but I was very much craving a connection.

@TwilightSky 2 reasons really, firstly I was in the same house as my ex. We got on ok but would have felt weird shagging someone in the same house. Secondly, my confidence was really low, was worried about how I looked, how my body looked. My friend was also going through divorce and we supported each other… then when the conversation about sex came up we helped each other out.

I think I read somewhere that when a couple spits, one person is generally readier to move on than the other which is what happened to me and my now ex.
I was still processing what it all meant and they'd already done that so had a head start and started having sex with someone they worked with straight away, which I didn't object to the principle, but whilst we were still living in the yet to be sold house together it made it very difficult for me and added strain to the separating.
