Post menopausal lube

My new partner had said she's post menopausal.
I am aware that lubrication is more likely to be needed by older women than younger, so there's a bottle in the bedside drawer incase we need it. If we don't, great. If we do it's there - no big deal.
As I've never had to worry about lube before, and don't want anything to feel awkward for either of us (especially her), is there anything particular I need to be aware of?

I never understand why lube has such an odd reputation! It’s great, and I’ve been using it since I became sexually active. It’s great for foreplay too—everything glides more easily. Just keep a box of tissues to hand to remove any excess from your/her hand after application.

I’m loving your posts atm @IHE! I always assumed men worried about manscaping and how they’d measure up to exes and possibly a lack of 6 pack before the first time. Not lube in the bedside drawer 😂😂

@Gymbunny2025 I'm pretty sure I'll be more conscious of my love handles than hers, I couldn't give a flying aubergine about her exes virility and, disappointingly, I couldn't get a waxing appointment until after we're likely to have spent a second night together.
The anxieties of our respective species are not always so very different.

Personally I'm a big fan of lube, but only the plain stuff. The Minty ones are incredibly strong and make my eyes water!

Condom compatible lube.

I use uber lube silicone lube. Bit expensive but comes in a nice pump glass bottle can be left on the bedside table. Comes in handy for lots of things (shining shoes, getting wedding ring off)

Personally I wouldn’t wait until you need it to reach for it. I’d say I like using lube during sex is that ok. Oral both ways is improved with flavourless good quality lube in my opinion.

I’m post-menopausal and like Niagra Falls! But…only with a man who turns me on (and the chemistry is there). I often wonder if dryness is more associated with the woman not actually being very attracted to the male.

You are absolutely right. We had friends who worked in the medical world and had to purchase lube in bulk. They said some of the best times they had was with a large polythene sheet on the (cleared) living room floor and several litres of lube.

When we were younger and more active we had no problems with natural lubrication but id often buy nice fruit flavoured lubes and as someone else mentioned it would just help making things glide during foreplay and because they actually taste really nice if you get the right ones it’d mean oral would tasty and last a long time whicj my partner really enjoyed before having sex so it enhanced the feeling for both of us and just became natural to use it
