Gedarel long term

I will give a little more background further down but the basic question is do people find issues using Gedarel contraception long term?
My wife 36 has been taking it constantly since having our second child seven years ago, she has breaks for a period normally when she feels ready or suffers spotting. She has been told this is a normal way to take this. My concern is how healthy is it to take hormones like this for such an extended period? Her main reason for using it is to control and limit periods and to make period pain manageable, I have no concerns what so ever with this reasoning as it’s her body and she knows better than anyone what she needs.
However she has always had mild anxiety and is a worrier and I worry how much this is getting added to with the constant hormones. My thinking comes off the back of a conversation with colleagues about vasectomies and how I had been told by my wife not to bother as she plans to be on the pill until menopause.
