How well do you know your partner’s porn habits

Hubby and I were chatting and he mentioned a porn video he watched recently, the genre really took me surprise. I know he watches porn and I know what kind of video he normally watches but I was surprised that there are other more niche genres he is into that I never really knew about.

to be clear he is not keeping it secret I suppose it’s just not something I have asked about.

This got me wondering how much in general do other couples know their partners porn habits and and preferences.

Many years ago when my sons went out in the wider world after university to work for a living. They would bring home porn films and leave them lying around. One day curiosity took hold of me and when everybody had gone to bed I took a sneaky peek. What I didn’t know was my wife crept downstairs quietly and caught me. My son for sometime latter reminded me with the words “you’ve been busted”. My wife knew but was never concerned.😡😛

I don't think DH has got time to watch porn but if he did I wouldn't be interested. Each to their own.

I don’t see the need for either partner to know what the other watches. Much like I don’t need to know who they are messaging throughout the day.

Porn will undoubtedly make a lot of DP’s insecure and by showing them, it’s only going to antagonise the situation. My ex for example: would have categorically accused me of selecting porn with actresses in that look like friends of mine, regardless if they looked like them or not.

I got a shock when I saw how rough they were, and this was continuously.. really changed how I thought about him.
It's probably best not to look, it'll just lead to insecurities

Me and my hubby both watch porn and 99% of the time we watch separately but are open about it for discussion so it's not a big secret. I don't know exactly what he watches but I know it is often lesbians. If he asked me watch I watch I would be open with him.

I don't love the fact that my partner watches porn but I have asked to watch it with him a couple of times, partly to see what he likes. I was relieved. Nothing rough. His favourite porn actress he chooses because she looks "jolly" and like she is always having a good time. I leave him to it now, as long as it doesn't impact negatively on our sex life I don't ask. I don't think my partner watches porn that much. Maybe occasionally. I'm not sure what her thing would be. Straight sex, I'd imagine. Maybe a bit of exhibitionism. Her thing though is erotic stories and she also indulges in some cybersex online. It's a case of whatever floats your boat.

Solely from personal experience, I think it’s a valuable thing in a relationship to be open about what you both get off to. The DH and I - at my instigation - got into the habit early in our acquaintance of watching porn together on weekend mornings as a hangover cure, and it helped us have open conversations about what we both enjoyed, and about the gap between what’s fun to watch and what’s fun to do with someone about whom you care.

We are similar we occasionally share something we've enjoyed (and know the other would) or watch something together. It's definitely allowed us to re enact things we've both found sexy. And sometimes made our own film too!
