To always be sore after sex?

I'm a long time user but I have name changed for this one.

I have only ever had one sexual partner whom I have been with for 3 and a half years, we are married and have sex regularly, unless we have sex every other day the opening of my vagina gets really sore and red raw, after the birth of our son we are lucky if we have sex once a week and the pain afterwards just isn't worth it and it's putting me off sex entirely. He is not particularly girthy and I'm always well lubricated.

Is this just how it is? Do you have to have sex very regularly for it to just slide in and out without irritation? It's quite annoying as I do enjoy it while it's happening but afterwards it's just really sore.

Does he finish inside you? It’s rare, but you could be allergic to his semen, which I read somewhere gets better the more you have sex?

The fact it is ok if having very regular sex would suggest a size mismatch and even then if well lubricated shouldn't be an issue.

Me and oh are at the petite v well endowed and it is only really a problem if we go a month or so and even then we just go carefully. Might be sore after but not for long. Suggest a GP visit?

No that's not normal. Make an appointment with your GP.

What do you mean when you say you’re well lubricated? Self-lubricated or using a product? Many women get micro-tears from the friction if they don’t use lube.

I agree with this. I get sore if I've not had sex for a while or if he goes for ages. There's only so much natural lubrication your body can produce and it's perfectly normal to supplement with lube. Apply some at the start next time and see if it improves things.

No wetting up properly! Tell him to slow down and get things sorted before going in.

  • Could you be allergic to semen or to any artificial lubricants you're using?
  • Are you using condoms? Could you have a latex allergy?
  • How long does the penetration part of the sex last? Does it take your husband a long time to orgasm?
  • Is he rough during sex?
  • Does the pain arise during/towards the end of the sex? How long after does it start to hurt? Does it also hurt after a quicky?
  • What kind of pain is it? Can you describe it? Burning, sharp, scratching, cramping?

May I ask how old you are? Could you be menopausal? Could be a lack of oestrogen. Suggest you consult your doctor in any case.
