What I mean is that people who are not expecting to see folks engage in sexual activities might walk by.

It's a tricky one because the whole point of dogging is performing in front of an audience. I myself attend kink events where public play is the norm and have spanked and been spanked in front of a small audience.

On the other hand I inadvertently walked into a gay playspace in a semi wooded area in the middle of the afternoon. I can't say I was traumatised, but it did seem wrong.

So, does that make me a hypocrite or is one able to draw a distinction between one location and the other and, if so, might different rules apply?

I believe it’s usually at night, in the woods. Not speaking from experience! They don’t want to have their fun ruined so wouldn’t risk being caught by someone who would be offended.

Not been dogging personally but my wife and I used to live just off Beacon Fell in Lancashire and we often saw flashing headlights from one of the car parks late at night. At the time we didn't realise when they meant and went to have a look. if you want to bear in mind;
it is illegal so you leave your self open to prosecution i am thinking you would be done for public indecency or similar
if you do you need to set boundaries with your partner, do you allow these strangers do anything? touching, masturbating you, full sex etc

In the mid 1990's I lived in one county. And my GF lived near the Coast. To save a long drive for either of us we looked at the Map and worked out where was halfway. (Before the days of Google Maps etc). We agreed to meet off the M25 early on Saturday morning and what is a busy sort of tourist attraction.
Meet time was 0800AM. I got there about 0715. 0800 no sign of her. Tried her phone. Ended up walking up and down the big car park. Found her car. Her phone had died and she had gone to look for a payphone. She was early too.
We had been really looking forward to seeing each other. We left the tourist place but parked just up the road in what was a quiet country car park.
By this time it's closer to 0900 on a lovely Summer morning.

There's a carpark / beauty spot I visit early morning sonetimes that often has some pretty skanky looking vans and campers parked up over night. I suspect that's for dogging. I don't have a problem with that, but the state of the vehicles doesn't fill me with confidence about the state of their occupants.
