How bad is it to receive oral when dh has a mouth ulcer?

This evening I saw mouth ulcer treatment out on the side…my dh only has a mouth ulcer and we had sex including oral last night. I’m so pissed off! He didn’t know it was a bad idea (and I believe him, he’s not brilliant at health stuff). I know it’s bad, but quite how bad is it? He doesn’t usually get mouth ulcers, in fact I only vaguely remember him ever having one though it’s possible he hasn’t told me (I get them often though). Will it definitely be herpes or can you get mouth ulcers for other reasons? I’ve been married a long time and can’t remember! I could just really do without catching HSV1 right now. Or would me already getting mouth ulcers protect me? How long do symptoms take to appear? I have a friend who was very poorly catching HSV1 from a partner with mouth ulcers. I’m so cross with him! I don’t want to get sick OR have HSV1!

Ok, just been checking online. From my limited search it appears mouth ulcers do not mean herpes, is that right? Only cold sores? If anyone out there has medical knowledge and could put my mind at rest I would really appreciate it! Thinking about it rationally, this can’t be the first time he’s unknowingly done this in the 15 years we’ve been married…🙄

He was right and you were wrong. A mouth ulcer will do sod all unless it is actually a cold sore. You can stop being unreasonably mad at him.
