I've slept with a new fwb. A few times now we made sure we used protection. He is now complaining that they make the tip of his penis sore and it makes difficult for him to wee so wants to stop using them. I've never heard of this can men be allergic to spermacide and what are the alternatives.

A lot of condoms are made of latex and plenty of people are allergic to that. And allergies aren't necessarily life long.
There are plenty of condoms made of something other than latex. (Google is your friend.)

Would definitely recommend trying out the non latex ones if it's a casual non exclusive arrangement, available in all high street pharmacies.

Nonoxynol-9 is the probable spermicide used and there are concerns that it's use may be associated with a higher risk of genital lesions.

Try different ones

I would happily have a slightly sore tip to have some action. Buy a selection of different ones and see if he makes excuses or happily works his way through them and chooses the best
