Dildo vs Vibrator

I’m just wondering if dildos ‘work’ for everyone or mainly only if you can orgasm from penetration? I can get there from a g spot type vibrator (but takes a lot longer than bullet etc). Me and FWB have discussed trying a dildo but not sure if would be a waste of money. or maybe we’d have fun trying it anyway!

I used a dildo when I was dating a woman years ago and I could orgasm with it but now I'm married to a man I don't feel I need that as I prefer clitoral stimulation for solo masturbation. So I prefer a vibe, but it's personal choice and what feels best for you.

DixonD · 07/04/2024 00:56

I can orgasm through penetration but only occasionally have with a dildo. I dislike them really but I won’t go into why as it’s complicated. I find vibrators are better for personal enjoyment purposes.

StarlightLady · 07/04/2024 09:41

I’ve never owned a dildo, but over the years l’ve owned enough well used vibrators to open a vibey museum.

I don’t get the dildo concept. If it were all so simple, l’d also get pleasure from a tampon which l don’t and would be surprised if any woman does.

Yes, this. In my experience, dildos are more for men (the viewing experience!) than for women.

I think these are all my thoughts too. I might buy a cheap one to try with him but I’m unlikely to use on my own

thanks

OP, there are plenty of dildo shaped vibies on the market. It nay save you wasting your money on something for male entertainment.

Agiftandacurse · 07/04/2024 13:52

That’s a very good idea!! I’ll have a look on lovehoney later and see if I can find one.

Yes, this. In my experience, dildos are more for men (the viewing experience!) than for women.

I think some men think that when women masturbate we just stick things up ourselves but in my opinion there's a big difference between having a nice long and thick penis or dildo filling you up and hitting your G spot than simply inserting a tampon. Some of really do find penetration orgasmic, even if the majority of women don't.

Chemistrychic · 07/04/2024 21:53

They are very different beasts and give completely different orgasms. Depends what you're in the mood for. Definitely worth trying if you haven't yet. I recommend the glass ones.

BunnyOnTheOnion · 07/04/2024 22:50

I wouldn't get much from using a dildo on it's own but do find it can enhance or prolong a clitoral orgasm (whether that's from fingers or a vibe). Agree with PP who suggested glass, I think it looks and feels much nicer.

Yes, this is absolutely my experience as well. They don’t listen when you tell them otherwise either.

Osirus · 08/04/2024 20:12

I’ve never tried glass, I guess I’m worried it might break 😂

We use dildos occasionally but it’s mostly for DH’s viewing entertainment.

B1rd · 08/04/2024 23:41

Dildos and dildo shaped vibrators don't do much for me. But i can't recommend the Satisfyer pro 2 highly enough.
Also, you can generally find vibrators cheaper on Amazon than love honey or Bondara.

Just out of interest, as I’ve never tried one, don’t you worry about it snapping/shattering?

PinotPony · 09/04/2024 21:03

Well there's dildos and then there's dildos...

I'm not a huge fan of straight phallus like dildos but my Njoy is an absolute delight as it's curved so hits all the g spot buttons. I also have a glass one for temperature play which is kinda fun. DP recently bought me a Phreak toy and I was surprised how much I enjoyed it after I got over the size of the monster!

I couldn't be without vibrators but I'd definitely recommend trying a few dildos to see if you like them too.

Agiftandacurse · 09/04/2024 22:33

The njoy one looks fab but £150! Are there any features I should look for in a much cheaper model? I’ll look for something curved…

I did actually find a nice g spot vibe that looks like it could be used as a dildo too (as @StarlightLady suggested). Do you think that would be giving it a fair go to see if I like/May want to try a more ££ one in the future

You clearly haven't tried oral sex when on your period with a tampon in ;)

StarlightLady · 10/04/2024 07:25

@Wakemeup17 - Yes l have, but with no benefit from the tampon.

Oh, it's just me then but I do benefit from the tampon ;)

Shropshiregirl51 · 10/04/2024 12:35

Vibe only does it for me. Doxy wand is my goto

Tufter · 10/04/2024 16:36

My favorite masturbation method is to start with a Durex bullet focused on my clitoris and then as I get aroused/wet, slowly push a non-working (actually very old and broken) penis sized vibrator inside and move it in and out very slightly (two handed method!). I find that the "full" feeling triggers a much stonger orgasm than just having an empty vagina. It feels like the contractions I get on orgasm have something to grip on.
For some reason I can't achieve the same with PIV or a buzzing vibe inside. I once achieved it with DH's fingers inside but it was never repeatable that way - has to be the old faithful clapped out vibrator (20 years old - my very first one that I a former BF got me - the best present he ever bought me).

JTRSOP · 30/04/2024 22:26

It’s interesting how different we can be. I’ve always preferred dildos over external, clit-focused vibrators. I like the feeling of something inside. It’s nice to have both at the same time though.

RoséProsecco · 01/05/2024 11:40

I use a rabbit-type vibrator for that feeling of fullness plus clitoral stimulation- a winning combination!

The one l had made a noise akin to a cement mixer which put me off my stroke, maybe they have improved/got quiter?
