How often do parents with young children have sex?

My husband and I have been married for 15 years and have three young children. I work part time and am frequently exhausted from working/ looking after children etc. leaving no energy for sex. My husband gets upset that I can’t get past the tiredness to want sex. I also have a medical condition that sometimes makes sex painful so there’s some anxiety with this. Wondering how much is normal for people with young children? Once/ twice a week?

Got a 3 year old who hates sleep so very infrequently.

Don’t often come on to the sex board but had a look tonight and this thread caught my eye. Really glad it did as it’s been on my mind.

Before DC, we had sex almost every day. We started off as fuck buddies so sex was a big part of our relationship.

We now have a 6 month old and a young 3 year old, neither of whom sleep well. I’m permanently exhausted. I’m also two sizes bigger than I was pre children so I feel fat and unattractive. We have sex once every 4-6 weeks. Would like more but I feel like a different person.

You’re not alone. We have a 22 month old and he still wakes 3-4 times a night. We haven’t slept in the same bed since he was 4 months old. The lack of intimacy is killing me and our relationship 🙁

8 years married, both work full time and we have three kids between 6 and 12. On average I’d say 2-3 times per week although this can vary depending on illness stress etc. it can be once a week sometimes or longer.

Anyone have any advice? Have a 3 ye old 2 ye old and a 3 month old baby! Breastfeeding and consleeping but I have had sec twice since having the last baby. No libido at all! Is this normal? Life is soooo busy!

Normal. Caring for babies and small children is tiring and physically and mentally consuming, so no wonder your libido has dropped off. I think don't force it and keep up the physical intimacy with each other with cuddles, massages, whatever it is you personally enjoy. Compliment each other, talk about sexy times you've had together etc and it'll come back.

Just read this post and made me relate, but so true lots of post. We have a couple of children both young and it is now nearly impossible to have sex. To the point it's frustrating to start as just get disturbed. Last time we tried we had a lovely session, and got to about a few mins from the end (the time for "O"s) and hear banging at the door.. so all had to stop and didnt then get chance to continue / finish... any suggestions gratefully taken!

We have been in your situation when our children were young many moons ago. Depending on their sleeping habits I think that you may have to be prepared to have sex in the middle of the night or early morning before they get up.
I would also put a lock on the door if not already.
