40 ish year old here, sex maybe once a week at best. Curious as to how often people have sex in a week?

God, this thread is depressing. I’m guessing the couples having loads of sex don’t have multiple young children sucking the life out of them 🙈😂

Early 30s, been together 13 years. Probably two or three times a week on average but it can vary. There were times it was a lot less, especially when the kids were young and didn't sleep!

Both mid/late 40s

its very rare we miss a day, and quite often it’s morning and evening.

We had sex last night, this morning, and I popped home at lunch time to get some toys and ropes ready for when we get home after a meal out tonight.

Sex is a VERY important part of our relationship and we sometimes involve a second female.

We have been together four years and it’s always been like this.

We probably had sex at least once a day in the first four years too. 20 years and 3 children later, our lives look a little different albeit very fulfilling in lots of ways. OP I think you would get a more balanced response in the relationships board. For many people on the sex board, sex is their primary hobby and social outlet. Not necessarily representative of the general population.

I was previously in a relationship for 22 years before a bereavement, hence the short nature of this relationship for someone in their late forties.

We had two kids and had sex I would say on average ten times a week.

That’s fantastic. I’m genuinely happy for you and sex is obviously a huge priority for you. However the OP is obviously feeling insecure about the amount of sex in their relationship. Research suggests that about once a week is the average in long term relationships. I was just pointing out that the inhabitants of the sex board are probably skewed in a direction upwards of that. Posts on this sex thread are probably doing nothing to ease the OP’s insecurities. Also, sorry for your bereavement.

You do realise this is merely a topic on MN and not an exclusive club? Most posters here probably post on other topics of Mumsnet, as I do. A bit snide of you to say that's it's posters' primary social outlet, probably because you have some bitterness because you're not getting it as much as you would like. Ouch.

Agree with @Inthethickofit123 . This is a self selecting audience. A great audience, but MNers on the other side of the bell curve. who aren't much bothered by sex and who only have it every month or three, are less likely to inhabit this board. As well as the Relationship board, I suspect you'd get yet another different style of answer on the Feminism board.

Agree with other posters re this board being a bit skewed. From some quick Googling it seems that once a week is pretty average for long term relationships.

I got some lets say, disparaging comments when I mentioned this elsewhere on MN, but being with one person for years and years might be better for society, finances, children, housing etc but "forsaking all others" is not a natural state for humans to be in. It is a created one, as they say "for better or worse".

Fetlife is the best place to start, it's like kinky Facebook. No app on the app store, though if you access the website you can get it. There is an events tab showing you everything in your chosen radius. I would start at a munch, which is a chilled pub meet, to make friends and get recommendations for play events

Nothing since I fell pregnant 8 months ago. Maybe once every two months prior to that. I've just accepted life as a plain Jane, and feeling incredibly lucky I fell pregnant.

DH often gives compliments but never really acts on it, deep down I don't think I've ever physically been completely his type. I don't see the frequency increasing anytime soon!

On average once a fortnight, but that includes some daily sex & even twice daily when on holiday and some long gaps of 40+ days.
Unfortunately sex is not a priority for my DW and therefore she never talks about it or initiates when at home.
