My husband I have been trying a bit of bondage lately and we both are enjoying it, we have seen pictures of some impressive rope work and we would love to give it a go but we have no idea where to start. Can anyone recommend some decent resources for beginners?

There's plenty of videos on Youtube.

Bristol has a friendly group.

In truth, have always been a bit bemused by lots of that shibari stuff. For once trussed up like a cross between a free range chicken and a work of art, what then?
This issue was addressed by Chanta Rose in this book
https://www.librarything.com/work/1277335
which me and a partner had fun with.
She also uses simple/minimal knots.
Which is just as well as I was I terrible scout.
(I wasn't privileged enough to be a member of the troop which had its exhaustive guide to impenetrable knots co-opted by a bondage info site)

PS - am not aware that there was ever actually a volume 2 - if you OP or anyone else should, er, come across it, please let me know.

Rorys brain works on Youtube. But it takes practice - rope can injure very easily, so better to get to a peer rope event somewhere near you. Fetlife is your friend here - lots of rope events going on.

How does one contact the Bristol group @NCmistermistress ?

There's loads of online resources...

TheDuchy.com

Would also recommend Evie Vane's book The Little Guide to Getting Tied Up.

Before you start tying, educate yourselves about negotiating a scene, the different types of rope and nerve damage. Shibari is edge play, it's dangerous if not done safely. You only have to look at some of the group chats on Fetlife for stories of rope bunnies with permanent nerve damage. Listen to your body and, if anything feels wrong, ask to be taken out of rope.

If you want to move onto partial and full suspensions, get to an actual class. Anatomie Studio in London is amazing but there are plenty of local rope groups around the country. I go to Brighton Rope.
