Copper coil?

I am currently trying to decide what type of birth control to go for after having my baby 2 months ago. I think I'm going to go for the copper coil as it's hormone free but I was just wondering if some of you could tell me your experiences with the copper coil?
I was on the pill for years before I got pregnant and it started off fine but eventually ended up making me feel really miserable so I want to try and steer clear of hormones if I can.

How was the insertion of the coil for you? Did you have any problems afterwards? Would you recommend it and if not was their a birth control that you found worked better for you and why?

I have had one for about six months, since splitting with ex. It was a bit uncomfortable when the Dr inserted it but she and the nurses were lovely and just chatted the whole time. I took paracetamol before on a friend’s recommendation. Not sure if that helped.

There was a lot of bleeding straight away that calmed down but carried on for a few week. Then slightly longer and heavier periods. But I don’t even notice it’s there and didn’t want any hormones so it suits me for now. When I start thinking about HRT, I might swap it for the Mirena but at the moment I’m very happy with it. The pill never suited me.

I had some pain when the coil was inserted and quite uncomfortable cramping for a for days and during the first few periods after that. Otherwise, it's been perfect for me. Being on the pill killed my libido, so I'll never go on hormonal birth control again.

I had mine fitted a month ago, I was on the pill for 16 months prior to having it fitted like you the pill made me miserable my mental health just took a massive decline whilst I was on it. I took my pill right up to the day I had my copper coil inserted. I panicked for weeks about having ir fitted because I read a lot of horror stories honestly it was over in 5 seconds I did cramp a bit after having it inserted but that was it then I had a withdrawal bleed a few days later that lasted a week, I have just got my proper period 2 days ago I was a bit crampy a few days before it came with a bit of spotting.. it has been a lot heavier than my periods would have been before but mine were very very light and only 2 -3 days long but it’s nothing that’s annoying me I just have to change my pad or tampon a bit more other than that I have really enjoyed having mine, and my mental health has improved I am definitely more confident in my own skin and a happier mummy so it’s a win win for me I’m sorry I didn’t get it sooner xx

I had one between children, had to have it removed as very heavy bleeds. Went on to have 3 implants with zero problems. Recently had a mirena coil fitted for hrt and contraception and zero problems, I know you said no hormones but worth a look
