The received wisdom is that it would be uncivilised if you didn't wash the bed sheets after having sex ... right?
Even if you have sex 3 or 4 times a week? That's a lot of laundry.

And às for those lucky people who are at it twice a day ...?
Or the numerous singletons who are enjoying the horniness boost of menopause and masturbating daily?

I schedule a bed linen change once a week, judge away!! I would not feel comfortable with the environmental impact of my sex life if I was expected to wash the sheets each time. It is sometimes necessary to lay a towel down, but I feel that is more appropriate than changing a king size sheet. we’re slovenly 😁

The environmental impact of sex? Oh J H C*!!! Is there not enough for me to feel guilty about in the modern world already? 😱

I change the bed about twice a week. I would every day if I could as I love fresh bedding. But we normally just put a towel down if he's going to do something to me that's going to make me squirt.

Shall we address plastic usage while we're at it?

You can't exactly put the sofa/kitchen table/stairs/insert wherever you've had sex that's not in the bed!/ in the washing machine so why should it apply to the bed sheets! 🤣

This has made me smile. I thought Laundry in the sex thread?! 🤔 Now I've read it, it makes total sense.

I didn't realise until recently that you can buy sex towels/mats for the bed. They are washable, so no need to feel guilty about the disposable/plastic issue. Maybe worth a look?

I thought this was going to be a laundry fetish, I even did the slight eyebrow raise before opening the post 🤣

I usually change the bedding once a week, maybe twice in the hot weather. I certainly don't change the bedding after sex.

It's a friendship bed. I also co-sleep with some close friends in a non sexual way when they stay, so sometimes I have a friend stay when someone else has shared the bed with me previously.

Once a week, definitely not everytime we have sex.

Actually, for environmental reasons we ditched the tumble drier a couple of years ago. We use a drying rack now plus the radiators when they are on during the cold months which bit of a challenge with king-size sheets, duvet covers, etc.

Thankfully the warmer weather is back (a bit!) and we can hang them up on the clothes line. They feel much nicer too when you use them again. Why is that? 🤔

Fresh bed sheets are heaven!
I mean, if someone wanted to strip the bed, wash the sheets and put them back on the bed each day I wouldn't complain. But sadly I don't have a magic fairy to do these things!

@Mermaidparades Vegan lube? I wouldn't want to judge anyone for their gender preferences, but are you suggesting you prefer sex to be meat free?😂
@everywhichway I've never really thought about plastic use in terms of sex. Anyway, I prefer latex to PVC, and that's biodegradable ... right? 😉

Don't fret about it: when the sheets really need to be laundered, they will make their own way to the washing machine.

I wash the bed linen once a week. I only wash it after sex if it's been particularly sweaty or squirty sex! 😂

Puppy pads and Sheets of San Francisco save a hell of a lot of washing.

If this isn't the thread that would have set the judgey set aflame only a few weeks ago yet has proved to me that the sexy stalwarts are here to stay I don't know what would!!!

Personally we focus on the right lube, the right clean-up routine and when we do want to have bootiful clean linen. No routine tbh as we both have aged parents, tweens, teenagers, stupid jobs and hopefully wonderful date nights we just try and do the best we can.

Once a week bed change - not changing the sheets every time... Ain't nobody got time for that!!

I've changed the sheets after sex because they were a mess as my partner was on her period and blood is easier to wash out if it is reasonably fresh. Apart from that I'd not bother, In my experience seeing a few stains on the sheet from the night before can lead to a repeat.

Change the sheets after every shag? No chance, let it dry and crack. Once a week for sheets is fine.

No I definitely wouldn’t be changing the sheets everytime. I was seeing someone who had young kids recently, and they shared his bed most nights as they don’t sleep great. I used to think I really hope you’re changing these sheets before tonight when his kids were back from their sleepover with g-parents but he made a comment once about washing the sheets weekly so guess he didn’t. If my kid was sleeping in the bed 12hrs later I’d definitely be changing the bottom sheet. I know he did once but only as it was particularly messy - I mean he couldn’t have left that!
