Sex after abstinence triggering early period?

Can this happen? My period has returned early after a 2 week gap and I’m wondering if it could be because I’ve recently (last month) started having sex (quite a bit of it) after a loooong gap.

Yes, a gynae consultant told me this was a thing.

Yes I had some unusual bleeding soon after I started having sex again after a long gap. I didn’t normally bleed due to contraception but did for a few days and have again since. Guess my vagina is wondering what the heck is going on!

Might be prudent to have a smear test done just in case.

It’s cervical erosion- it won’t be a real period as this is purely hormonal, nothing to do with sex.

Sex can course cervical erosion, especially in pregnancy.

Bleeding after sex should be investigated.

Really interesting thank you. I’ve got appointment with gynae tomorrow to be checked. Fingers crossed. Also, have ordered chlamydia test kit! Strikes me this could be possible explanation which would be really annoying after years of celibacy!
