Could this be a STD?

Hello, I had unprotected sex early last year and now I'm freaking out that I've caught something. Symptoms have just started over the past week, sore sex, although this seemed to be due to lack of lubricant. Apart from that, I've had a constant urge to pee over the last week and a bit of kidney aching in the evening. I have constant watery, white discharge, always had it but more so since getting the coil fitted over a year ago. Also, not sure if it's related but aching on the right side of my groin. Yet again, always had this when ovulating but it's been pretty sore over the past day or so. I've been the GP for tests and they did a urine test which showed blood in my urine. Obviously I'm now freaking out. I'm in my late 30s. Any advice would be great!

Go and have free std check at the hospital !! I had similar before and it was clamydia so yeah I’d get it checked

@Heyahun omg really? Even though it's been a year since that unprotected sex?

It can be completely symptomless ! Honestly don’t wait around to find out

it’s so easy to treat I literally took one tablet

That's not the problem though, I made a very sill drunken mistake and I'm with a long term partner

Go get checked first before mentioning to your partner - it could well be nothing and just a kidney infection but you need to find out either way

it can be very serious if untreated honestly you could end up infertile:(

Chlamydia for sure get it checked and treated it can lead to all sorts of issues if not treated

I’d definitely get a STD screen. Up to 80% of the adult population have Herpes with no symptoms for anything Upto 20years after contracting it . There is no cure for it but it can be managed with the right medical attention. The sore sex you mentioned could be the herpes virus coming out .breakouts are rare but if it is one you need to stop sexual contact until the sores inside or outside have completely gone . If you’re not sore or have no symptoms showing then screening is not going to pick it up . You have to be tested during the breakout .

Who here is qualified to tell you if you have an STD or not? Just go and get checked out.

Nottelling15 · 10/01/2023 21:29

Hate to state the obvious but if you had unprotected sex a year ago and do have an std your other half will already have it
Could be something totally unrelated

Did it not maybe occur to you to get tested before putting your long term partner at risk when it happened?!

AbsolutePixels · 13/01/2023 21:17

Get this investigated asap. If it's an untreated kidney infection, it could lead to sepsis.

What did the GP suggest? Did they prescribe antibiotics? It sounds like Urinary tract infection.

Most STIs should have been causing problems pretty much straight away, not a year later. But its always wise to have an STI test to put your mind at rest as having unprotected sex is worrying you.
