No, never do it, neither me or DP are interested at all. I did try it once many years ago, but I had such a bad experience it put me off for life.

Before this thread slips down too far I just wanted to say thanks for all contributions and for taking the time. Really interesting. I guess I knew there would be a wide variety of different experiences and views on this one! I find it kind of reassuring to know that I'm not the only one who enjoys (or doesn't enjoy) this or that or the other which an anonymous forum like this allows for.

A thing i have always wondered.. do you have to shower or have an enema first ? I ask that because I think my dh reluctance may be linked to this issue?

I as I mentioned in an earlier comment I do anal with my husband most days of the week. I never douche. If you have a good diet and you go to the toilet before you engage in the act there should be nothing to worry about. But bear in mind what the anus is for so there is always a possibility of things getting a bit dirty but just deal with it and move on!

Personally I don't do any different kind of prep than for other kinds of sex - daily shower, general intimate hygiene, etc, but I could see how a shower just beforehand might help him be a bit more relaxed knowing that you're sparkly clean "back there".

in my op. enemas aren't necessary, esp if you are regular and you've been in the last few hours. But you could try a simple warm water enema beforehand if he wants reassurance. Or he could wear a condom.

But he just might not fancy the idea of anal sex which of course some people don't. But probably a conversation with him is the best starting point and the only real way you're going to find out whether anal is or isn't for him.
