Copper coil?

Considering getting the copper coil.
The mirena coil made me bleed heavily for 6 weeks so I had it taken out. I'm now on the combined pill but I've put a lot of weight on for the short time I've been taking it and always feel bloated.
Considering the copper coil with it being hormone free but worried about the heavier period side effect as I work on my feet all day with little time for toilet breaks.
Any experiences would be welcome! Thank you.

I really like the copper coil. I’ve never got on with hormonal contraception and this is the only form I’ve found that hasn’t caused me terrible anxiety.

However, my periods are heavy. I’m not sure wether it’s my ‘normal’ flow which was heavy prior to starting contraception when I was younger, or it’s caused by the coil itself.

Either way the positive impact on my mental health outweighs the heavy periods.

I really love my copper coil. Got it put in in Feb after baby 2 in December, and I'm currently on period 3. My periods are heavier and maybe a couple days longer but for me it's totally worth it. Its the first time without hormonal contraception or the extras hormones from pregnancy for 11 years so it's been great to get my own body and emotions back.

I’ve had a copper coil for about 4 years. Used to have a mirena but didn’t like the side effects

now my periods are normal. They used to be very heavy when I was younger but aren’t nowadays.. I’ve not had any issues with it

Had my copper coil fitted around Christmastime. My periods pre-pregnancy, post-pregnancy and pre-coil used to be 4 days max, now they're more like 7 days, day 2 and 3 usually being quite heavy.
But I wouldn't change it for any other contraception. No hormones, very low risk of pregnancy, no discomfort. Very happy with it

I hated it. I seemed to get recurrent BV with it and had it removed in the end which cleared things up!

I didn't get on well with it at all. Periods were much heavier and longer - 10/11 days most months. Period pain was awful with it too. Persisted with it for 18m plus to see if it would settle but it didn't approve. Was really disappointed but had to get it removed as was really impacting quality of life. Wish I'd had it removed sooner tbh.

Loads of people seem to get on just fine though so there's a good chance you would be too.

This is one of the possible side effects of Copper Coil but doesn't happen to everyone so definitely worth a try
