Contraception confusion

Hi MN
I'm 45, have met a great guy who I've been sleeping with (it's been 6 years since I did this- same for him) - We are currently using condoms, seeking alternative, haven't used any other contraception in 10 years; I got pregnant on the pill so want to avoid that.
What's straight forward, easy and reliable these days? Any recommendations? I'm totally out of touch.
Thank you 🙏🏽

@newblue82 it might be worth looking on the NHS website (www.nhs.uk) to see which ones you want to rule out. There tends to be a sway towards more long acting contraceptives now like Mirena coils or implants but the choice is yours. You could make an appointment with your Practice Nurse or Sexual Health Clinic to discuss too. They could tell you if there is a long wait for coil insertion etc too (due to COVID!).

When I was single, I used condoms every time and only spent short periods on the pill. Was on the pill before TTC recently (baby due any day now!) but seriously thinking of not taking the pill again and going back to condoms. Is using condoms long term out of the question for you? With such a variety these days there must be something to suit everyone and some of them really do feel as if they're not there. I also usually put the condom on the guy and made it part of the sex rather than an interruption. Just a suggestion...
