I just want to be able to have sex

I’ve been diagnosed with pcos and my hormones are all over the place, including low testosterone. As a result, my sex drive is pretty much zero. Used to have a very healthy sex life, but now I hardly have any interest at all. Sex also became painful a few years ago, which really hasn’t helped. I think it also may be hurting as I’m not turned on/into it enough

I feel sorry for DP, we haven’t been able to have sex for over 2 years. He doesn’t pressure me, but I know he misses it, and there’s only so much wanking/foreplay/oral you can do

Are there any miracle cures for low sex drive or is this it now!? I’ve recently lost 2 stone and thought that may improve things, but no such luck so far. Drs haven’t been interested in trying to do anything to help, just said it’s pcos causing it and basically I have to just live with it

Hi @NoveltyFunsies I’m sorry that you are having these problems. As you probably know, sex shouldn’t be painful so is it worth asking your GP to refer you to a women’s Physio or pelvic health Physio?
Have you tried using lube? That might ease some discomfort.
I don’t think there are any miracle cures for low sex drive (but others might pop along & offer words of wisdom🤞🏼) but I do believe that the less sex you have, the less you want. Fortunately it also works the other way, in that the more you have, the more you tend to want it. Dr Karen Gurney talks a lot about desire & getting your libido back. She is on Instagram as @Thesexdoctor but if you Google her, the website comes up. She has resources & podcasts on the topic

Libido

Don’t give up OP, you shouldn’t have to settle for this just because you have PCOS.

I have PCos and didn’t actually know this was a side effect (not that I actually have a strong libido)

You’d need to read up on it but I’m pretty sure Brazil nuts increase testosterone- maybe there are some dietary changes you could make to help your hormonal imbalances.

I’d be more concerned about the pain. Have you mentioned that to your gp? Do you think it’s due to dryness? Or maybe psychological? Could be causing vaginismis?

I have been referred to gynaecology for the pain, but the waiting list is currently just under a year for an appointment, so I still have a long wait. I have been wondering if it’s possibly dryness causing the pain, so I’ve been looking at ways to treat that too, but I also need to try and sort out why I don’t have any sex drive too

Thank you @Whatliesbeneath707 I will have a look at her stuff today!

@Squiz81 most people with pcos have high testosterone so excess hair, weight gain etc. I thought this was the case with me until I had the tests done and my testosterone is too low. I have already overhauled my diet based on what helps with each hormone, lost 2 stone so far, but it’s a very slow process
