Hy ladies.
So me and this guy met up.
I’m sort of coming off my period and he did know.
He wore a condom, however I’m worried about HIV. Should I be ?

Not if you used the condom properly - put it on before his dick touched your vaginal area, pulled out while he was still hard and held on to the base as he pulled out.

Why are you worried if he wore a condom?

There's some evidence that women's immune system is weaker at mid-cycle but having your period doesn't increase your risk of acquiring HIV.

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious but you do know that he would have to be HIV positive for him to pass it to you? And if the condom was used correctly you don't need to worry.

Hi @GLR19832011 I responded on the other thread where you wrote about this. This is what I wrote:

If he wore the condom consistently for sex there’s no risk of HIV to you as the virus cannot pass through a latex barrier. It’s still worth getting regularly tested for all STIs though.

Pinot is correct about menstrual blood itself not putting you at increased risk.

As Cookie said, he would have to be HIV+ and not only that, he would have to not be on medication and have a high viral load and not use a condom - and even then it's quite difficult to transmit compared to other STIs. Once people are on effective medication (the vast majority in the UK) they can't pass it on even without condoms.
