Vibrators and orgasms

This may be stupidly naive question but can vibrators force orgasms? For example - you're not really mentally 'in the mood' but you orgasm anyway when a vibrator is used.
Ultimately is an orgasm more of a mechanical thing than an emotional/mental thing?

I use a vibe quite often. I usually have to be turned on to have an orgasm. Occasionally the sensation has built up to me having an orgasm without me really being in the mood but it definitely takes longer.
