Does anyone have any experience with herpes?

Just looking to see if there are any ways other than reduction of stress and a good diet to control the outbreaks.

Drs don't give out medication that often anymore and just advice slat water.

You can buy Aciclovir (sp?) online...

I have Herpes and it only came to light about 15 years after I was infected by my former wife. Through the last ten years I must have had about an outbreak every year. They occur chiefly when I am under stress and are quite easily managed with Aciclovir. Sod's Law dictates that an outbreak happens on a Bank Holiday weekend when it is tough to get a prescription from the surgery, so I persuaded my GP to give me a stock of tablets to take whenever I am struck down.

I swear by Aciclovir and would not like to be told that I couldn't have any more. Other than stress, I cannot identify any particular triggers for an attack. I try to manage that, but the nature of stress is that stuff happens and you are then saddled with your reaction to the situation.

Hi,

I have just had my first outbreak this week, the Gp gave me aciclovir and I have been washing 3/4 times a day with salt water and then when fully dry use bepanthan nappy rash cream to stop the friction as when it runs the pain is insane. I don’t know if that’s good for it or not?! But definitely helps during the day when having to go to work and sit down all day.

I have tried coconut oil last night but that didn’t seem to do anything. I also take 2 nurofen every time I take my other tablets also helps massively with the pain.

I had an abnormal smear in October and tested positive for hpv all previous hvp rests were negative, then had a miscarriage in March and now this, I feel so utterly shit about the herpes it’s unreal. I have been with my partner 10 years so one of us has had it a long time.
I am dreading the future and the outbreaks I am going to get, there isn’t much info out there really but all I have read is the meds and nurofen is the only way. there was a cream I read about which you can apply when you feel the first tingle which is meant to stop it. That was on the herpes website I think.
I just want it to go away I don’t think it will be anytime soon, struggling with this a lot.

Hope you find some information @2Rjl.

Thank you both for replying. It can be such a lonely thing to suffer with.
My first outbreak was 6 months ago and I was so poorly. I got a fever, a cough, swollen glands and then the Ulster's came and I could sit down or walk. I ended up going to a walk in centre and that have me some tablets but they didn't do anything. The first outbreak always looks like this apparently so I know exactly who gave it to me and how i contracted it.

Now every month around the time of my period I'm getting break outs. Not as bad as the first and I'm managing it with salt water and nappy cream but it's annoying and makes me so upset.

I have done some research and l-lysine tablets are supposed to be a good herbal remedy. You can get them form Holland and Barrett. I know a few people that take them a few times a week to control cold sores on their faces and it works. Might be worth you both trying that.

2Rjl the first outbreak is usually the worst. If you are having outbreaks on a monthly basis then something else needs to be done for you. Apparently it is possible to take a low daily dose of Aciclovir as a prophylactic measure. Please speak to your GP and if they will not help, then go find someone else who will. You should not suffer as you are doing.

Hello

After reading this thread I just wondered if anyone has experienced an outbreak on other another part of their body?

I get consistent outbreaks. Every month. Religiously. And it's spread to my legs.

Has anyone else experienced this before?
