Pain during orgasm?

Has anyone else experienced this? It tends to be quite localised and sharp immediately before an orgasm. It isn't excruciating and it doesn't stop the main event, it is almost...but not quite..painful enough to stop.

It started a month or so ago, never before and now it now happens every time regardless of the type of stimulation.

There is no recent trauma or other symptoms and no chance of infection etc. I do not have any pain on that area at any other time. Am I broken forever? Will it get worse? Please tell me this is normal! Blush

Where does it hurt? I've had similar sounding pain, turned out to be an ovarian cyst.

Lex234 · 14/10/2019 22:02

Its slightly to the right of the inner labia, but a bit inside rather than on the surface. Sorry that sounds a bit vague, I don't know how else to describe it :/

Possibly a bartholin cyst? Check for a swelling on the labia. Get a course of antibiotics, these can turn into the most painful abscess.

Yes that does sound like Bartholin's cyst.

Two options:

  1. Ring your GP and ask for an appointment with a FEMALE HCP, you will usually be seen the same day IME
  2. Call your local Sexual Health clinic and tell them you have symptoms (pain during sex) and you should get seen and examined the same day

When I read your OP I was initially assuming you meant pain in your clitoris - I have experienced this a few times when I've basically "sprained my clit" 😂 after using a high power toy (Hitachi magic wand) too much. The fix was simply to stop any clitoral stimulation until I was back to normal.

Thank you both, will book in to see the GP(was hoping to avoid the "when I have an orgasm it hurts doctor" conversation Blush

I was just wondering OP did you find out what this was? I’ve been experiencing exactly the same 😢

tingalayo · 02/07/2022 07:48

@BanterB thanks for resurrecting this, I've been experiencing it on and off for years but nobody in any forum, ever, has ever mentioned it. I go through phases of getting a nerve pain somewhere the second before orgasm. I went through a couple of phases of left buttock, a couple of phases of right buttock, a phase of lower abdomen and a phase of slightly to the side of the labia like the OP gets! It lasts a few months then disappears and I'm fine again. I really have no idea what it is except maybe trapped nerves.

BanterB · 02/07/2022 21:46

@tingalayo how strange! I’m sorry for your experience but glad I’m not alone! The only thing I can link it to is pelvic floor dysfunction 😢
