Depression after orgasm

After I orgasm, I always have a strange empty feeling for about 10 minutes afterwards. I feel as if there's no point to anything, and isolated from the world....it's an odd state of mind. This tends to happen if I've had intercourse before using a toy, rather than using a toy without intercourse (I can't cum from intercourse alone).

Just wondered if other women feel this way, and if there's a scientific reason for it?

This is such a well-known issue that even the Romans had a saying 'post coitum omne animal triste est'. It means that all animals are sad after intercourse, so you are by no means unusual.

I used to have this!! I still do on occasion. For me it's like a wave of sadness. A big black wave. Horrible. Apparently it's to do with a sudden hormone spike (not sure which one, oestrogen?).

It's called postcoital dysphoria.

I get this too. I looked it up once and found it was very common so just stopped bothering about it.

What it isn't is depression, though. La Petite Mort is hugely common.
