Scared I have lost ability to orgasm

I have always reached orgasm quite quickly and easily (with partners and on my own), however over the last month it has been so difficult and often completely unsuccessful.
As far as I can tell nothing obvious has changed. I'm scared I have lost the ability to orgasm. Has this ever happened to anyone else? What can I do to get back to my old self?!

Have you started to take any anti-depressants? Almost all of them can cause this sexual side effect.

No. I had started a low dose medication for anxiety but when this problem started I thought it might be the cause so I stopped taking it. It was prescribed for a particular situation at the end of July and I don't feel like I need it now anyway.

It could possibly still be in your bloodstream, i would give it a bit more time and if no different see your GP
Hopefully just a temporary thing,

Do you mind sharing what the medication was as I have experience in this field.

It was duloxetine. I stopped taking it about two weeks ago.

Thanks.

I'm happy to report that the Duloxetine is 100% responsible for your troubles, as sexual dysfunction is one of the main side effects of this medicine.

Depending on how long you took it for, it can take anything from a couple of weeks to a couple of months for normal service to resume.

Happy days! Thanks so much @StressedGuy Smile

I have extensive experience of SSRI medication and the destructive effect it can have on some people's sexual functioning, whether than be libido, ability to be aroused or ability to climax - or in my experience, all three. Whilst I can't say that is the case with EVERY SSRI, I can report that it has been the case with Fluoxteine, Sertraline, Venlafaxine, Citalopram, Paroxetine and Escitalopram. My GP kept on bouncing from one to another in the hope of finding one that didn't carry the side effect. They all impact serotonin and all had the same effect... doesn't take a genius.

If you're going to suffer depression, might as well do so with a sex life.

Wouldn't have minded if they'd actually cured the depression, but not a whiff. Gave them all 6 - 8 weeks with not a single ounce of positive benefit.

@StressedGuy oh that's awful. I hope you've found something that works for you now?
