I just don't want to look out of place. I know people say anything goes, but doesn't that mean "anything outrageous goes"? I can't imagine it covers a comfy pair of elderly jeans, if you see what I mean. And hair and make up? I am really very ordinary looking and a bit out of my depth. I'm not worried about any activity that might take place, just about looking wrong.

Hmmm. Makeup to your personal preference. I'd maybe go with stronger lipstick than usual, and be bold with eye shadow/liner. But it's important to feel like it's still 'you'.

For hair - depends where you are ging, but unless you really like it down and don't mind when it/you gets a bit sweaty, something to keep it off your shoulders.

Ha! I always do put a hair band round my wrist. I have long hair and like to wear it down but I find it's good to tie it up during a spanking.

What you're planning to wear sounds great. I have been to a couple of BDSM clubs and people do wear all sorts but lots of people don't wear fetishwear. Men in suits and women in little black dresses/evening dresses weren't uncommon. Dressing up is part of the fun as far as I'm concerned.

Do check the club's website and any information on Fet. The clubs that I have been to have had strict "no sex, no nudity" rules (It's a licencing thing, apparently).
