Being turned on my your partner's natural scent. Is this actually a thing?

Here is something that I've been curious about a while. I would have been too nervous about posting it in any other topic, but as there is now a sex section I feel slightly less nervous. A while back, there was a post on another forum I visit where people were talking about liking their partner's natural smell. I don't want it to sound jokey or twee, so I will just be direct about it. A few people were saying they preferred it when their partners had gone for a while without showering when engaging in intimate activities with them. I myself can only say that if a partner hasn't showered, I am more likely to be put off rather than turned on. It would be much more likely to make me "eww" instead of "mmm". The idea of smelling dp's eau de nutsack, particularly with the weather being warm as it is now, doesn't exactly set my pulse racing. That being said, do others here feel differently about it? How common a fetish is going natural?

There is scientific research that shows you are drawn to the natural body odour of your partner but that being on the female contraceptive hormone pill can alter this, I would totally google this and link to the actual research but I've had a couple of glasses of wine and I can't think of how to phrase it in a google friendly way.

Can I just add, I like OH clean and showered but I also like when he's been doing manly stuff and worked up a sweat, rather than gag at the smell of a sweaty man, I like it.

Totally different feeling to smelling a man's sweaty armpit on the tube!

Well personally a sweaty ballbag has never turned my on, but when now ex DP was a bit musty, after the gym for example, I could bloody ravish him. Not if it was leg day though, poor lad didn't have the energy.

I prefer my DB with a bit of body odour, not the 'sweaty nutsack' smell but his underarms. It really does turn me on.

I think how a man smells is really important. I know I liked to get a good whiff of a man before I would consider snogging him. I love DP's smell. But I love the smell of DS as well. I don't think it's a fetish OP, I think it's an actual thing.

I don't think it's a fetish, I think we are naturally disposed to using our sense of smell to help decide who we are attracted to. We tend to wash our bodies and clothes lot and use lots of scent altering products such as deodorants and perfumes, I'm not entirely convinced this is a good thing. We all secrete pheromones, which is one of the things we pick up on when selecting a mate. The smell of lynx is not attractive to me personally but the scent of dh's chest hairs is delicious!

There's a BIG difference in fresh man smell and stale man smell!! DH smelly of fresh sweat is great, if it was stale he'd be told to go shower first!!

Natural smell doesn't mean sweaty smell. It does smell a bit of sweat. But it also smells a bit of soap, and his clothes and what he's eaten and where he's been. I like DP's "fresh from the shower" smell sometimes. But mostly I like him to smell more like himself IYSWIM.

I love dp's smell, not necessarily around his balls, but nuzzling his neck he smells gorgeous.

I'm single but yes I have experienced this. It's not a fetish, it's just being turned on by how they naturally smell. I am in no way turned on by genuine BO. So it's not a haven't-washed-for-a-week-and-smell-like-a-polecat way just in a deodorant-has-worn-off-a-bit-and -this-is-my-natural-smell way.

An ex of mine used to shower twice a day but only for five minutes. So he never smelled dirty or stale, but he never smelled strongly of soap either. he just smelled freshly of him and that smell was addictive.

DH is very very clean. Hard to find his smell under layers of soap and aftershave. But when I do, it's lovely. Like freshly baked hazelnut biscuits.

Prof Winston did a great experiment about the link between scent / pheromones and attraction between a man and woman. It was a loooooong time ago, but I think the outcome was basically that it's a way that nature matches genes together for maximum benefit for the species. The experiment involved t-shirts in sealed bags which were then sniffed by the subjects. Was actually a fascinating insight to how some parts of our primal nature have survived despite all our so called civilisation...

I'm a lesbian and have always loved the natural smell of my female partners, and am repelled by the smell of men, so its definitely a thing. And once a mtf transgender person and I came close to sharing a kiss, but he still had a very male smell which I found repellent.

I love the smell of Dh after a day without a shower, and vice versa. We do shower daily, but I prefer nuzzling up to him at the end of a day. He much prefers going down on me if I'm a bit, erm, walked around, rather than freshly showered.

My ex husband used to make me wash myself before sex, and hated cunnilingus because 'it smells'. Fucking weirdo. It used to make me feel really dirty, and not in the good way.

My DP smells lovely from the neck town wards, stopping at his twig and berries! I could not bare to think about my nose or mouth connecting with 'Betty Swallocks' and a dodgy smelling dick. Unless the vital areas have been near to sterilised, there's no chance of getting a blow job 😄😄😄
