...Does anyone use a vaginal ring...?

I just cannot take the pill everyday. Even with an alarm. Implant was fab for 6 years. 7th year I bled for months. I've used the patch for 18months and suddenly appear to have become allergic...maybe they changed the glue...

So the nurse suggested a vaginal ring... No one I know had even heard of it so I can't ask!

How easy is it to get into position....and does it 'become dislodged' easily/often? DP wants to know if he would feel it during sex...?

It's called a Nuva ring
My friend used it and really liked it. I believe you can take it out for short periods but my internet is crap here so can't check!

Yes! I think it's fantastic. I've used it for 3 years now as I couldn't stomach any of the contraceptive pills. I take it out during sex with DP, as he said he could feel it. You can take it out for up to 2 hrs, just don't fall asleep and forget to put it back in. (I may have don't that twiceBlush)

Yes i've used the Nuvaring since DD2 6 years ago and i bloody love it!
The only down side for me is the price (not in UK) but as a contraceptive it is very good. I can't understand that it isn't prescribed more, actually.

My DP has said he can feel it perhaps 3-4 times over 18 months - and it really doesnt bother him. It didn't bother my ex before that, either. I think it might have come out twice since i've been using it.

Very easy to slip in and i find its usually in roughly the same position to remove it which takes 2 seconds. I love it Grin

I agree with all above. Great contraceptive, I like that it has more of a local effect, it does not affecrmy body as much as the pill.
Durting intercourse, it has happened that DP felt it so I took it out, but generally he does not feel it.

Agree with most of the above and used it for 10 years+. But after I had my children, now in 40s, it killed my sex drive.

Rubberduckies · 08/03/2016 21:09

Thank you everyone. I can't believe more people don't use one! Its GENIUS! I can't feel it at all, it doesn't move and can't say I've noticed any particular side effects. Dp can't feel it during sex, gets a bit freaked out if he feels it with his fingers but it's nice knowing there's the option of taking it out for a few hours if we need. Thanks again!

Hated the NUVA.

I gained lots of weight and suffered from water retention.

There have been quite a few cases in the newspapers regarding the safety of it. I'd stay away but that's just my 2 cents...

One month in
Great so far
Mini pill made me crazy
Injection have me morning nausea
Nuva ring winning!

JollyXmasJumper · 21/03/2016 17:47

If your body can handle it, yes it is probably the easiest to live with contraceptive.

I say if it can handle it, because mine did not and I ended up nearly dying from pulmonary embolism (at age 26, no preexisting condition) which was directly caused by using Nuvaring for three months.

Because it is "local" it does not change the risks, keep an eye out for DVT signs, especially during the first three months. Hope it works for you!

I tried it - great in every way except it also killed my libido (not recovered 2 years later).

kateemo how did you get yours back??
