Sex after stitches 😳

Hi im pretty new to this but just looking for some advice from other mums. I gave birth to my son in July (now six months old). I had a natural birth & everything went well. Unfortunately i had to have lots and lots of stitches (apparently 4 different types) even internal stitches. I kept the stitches clean and even bathed in saltwater and still they managed to get a painful infection & needed antibiotics. I didnt have sex for at least a month or 2 after as i was so scared. Ive found that sex is still so painful to the point id rather not have sex. The pain is like a sharp pain inside as if im a virgin and as though things cant go any further in if that makes sense. Surely after 6 months this isnt normal. Nurse checked during smear & said everything is fine but probs still healing. Just wondered if anyone has experienced this after stitches or similar. Ps- even tons of lube doesnt ease Confused

1 - 3 months after delivery - could be OK.
6 months after delivery, if there is lube, and you are turned on/relaxed - this is unusual. Do you have any idea who did the stitching??
See your GP, explain just what you have said here, and ask for a referral to Gynaecology.
Good luck. This should be a sortable thing.💐

I had a similar sensation /problem. My GPS said internal stitches take longer to heal. I think I started to feel better around 8 months after the birth and was careful with positions until the tenderness and 'obstructed' feeling was gone.

Thanks so much for the info fingers crossed that its just the healing too x

Obvious question, but have you tried different positions to allow entry from different angles?

I found it took 8/9 months after birth following stitches for sex not to be painful. Totally fine now.
