Trapped wind after sex

Sallystyle · 22/11/2015 18:43

I have IBS, I get trapped wind very often. I have had this problem for years, smears are all fine, no other problems so this is not a worrying symptom but a horrible thing to live with.

It doesn't matter what position we are in but 9 times out of 10 I wake up the next day bloated and suffer with really bad gas pains and it can last for two days.

Meds have never really helped either. I get trapped wind after eating a meal at times but knowing you are likely to be in pain the next day doesn't really make me want to have sex much.

I have two family members with IBS who suffer like I do after sex as well, so I just wondered if anyone can relate to it or have managed to find things that help? We try to stick to the missionary position as this is the position that causes me the less pain.

Omg I've had this and I have ibs.

I was in bed a week the last time it happened. I threw up twice because of the pain and I never vomit ever.

In the end I put a suppositorie up there to shift the wind.

Before that when it's happened exdp would make me mint tea and rub my belly.

Sallystyle · 22/11/2015 20:39

I never thought of trying a suppository. Not sure that's a healthy thing to do though.

It feels like knives going up your arse and labour pains doesn't it?

I have this and actually it is a symptom of endometriosis. Do you have bad periods too?

KittyandTeal · 23/11/2015 15:33

I was just coming on to say I have this and it's endometriosis. It can cause ibs symptoms as well.

winkywinkybumbum · 23/11/2015 22:31

I third the endo thing!

slightlyinsane · 25/11/2015 11:12

Does endo give you horrific pains around ovulation time too????

GenevaMaybe · 25/11/2015 17:34

Yes it can do

KittyandTeal · 25/11/2015 19:08

Yes I get horrid pains at ovulation time and then for most of the month after that. My only reprieve on a good month is the 2 weeks between period ending and ovulation.

Itsbloodyraining · 25/11/2015 19:36

Sorry to hijack, but can you have endo without having horrifically heavy periods? I have the javelin up the bum pain, bloating etc, but not horrific periods (so far).

Cel982 · 25/11/2015 19:40

You can, Itsbloody. With endo you get endometrial tissue in places where it shouldn't be, so when it bleeds at the time of your period it can cause awful pain; however, because the tissue is in other parts of your pelvis/abdomen the blood can't get out so your period may not be heavy at all.

GenevaMaybe · 25/11/2015 19:45

I didn't have heavy periods. Sometimes I would only bleed when I peed. However the pain was indescribable. I have a high pain threshold as I was a ballerina, but I found periods, sex, pooing during period absolutely excruciating. I had a laparoscopy and there was endometriosis everywhere

Itsbloodyraining · 25/11/2015 19:45

Thanks for the information. I'm currently waiting for referral for scan.

GenevaMaybe · 25/11/2015 19:54

Ok good luck. Endo will not show up on a scan so if that's clear then request referral to a gynaecologist for laparoscopy

Itsbloodyraining · 25/11/2015 20:23

Thanks for the tip. Going reproductive route first then digestive.

Sallystyle · 28/11/2015 23:18

Yes, I do have bad periods actually. Very heavy.

I forgot I posted this thread until just now.
