Hello - I am considering sending my son to this school and would really like to know more about it. Any parents, teachers or pupils out there who could let me know what they think of the school, the teaching and the general standards. Thank you. Also whether you have got in and are from another borough, were there problems?

Just offered Gunnersbury school secondary. Any help much appreciated

My son just got Gunnersbury as well, delighted, think it just dawned on him though that he will be the only one from his school going (bless him) but I think it is a fantastic school. Have you doubts ?

Only one from his school going too. All the rest of his class got into same school. Bit daunting for him and I , but I did love the school. May be driving there .

I have a friend with a son in this school, he loves it but just be prepared they get a lot of homework right from the start.

I know someone with two sons here - very, very happy with it. Focus not just on getting people to a C, but on A and A*s. One really good teacher just came back after an absence. High aspirations among many.

Worried about distance and catchment area. The people who got offers yesterday do the live close to school and what about transport links

M1909 · 02/03/2016 23:01

I live close so my son can walk, nearest tube is northfields on pic line, bus 65, e3 and e2 all are 10 mins walk. Still happy with decision to go there but dreading the day first day when he has to go in all on his own, going to be a blubbering mess (me, not him). Love the school, hope it's the right one, my only niggle is that I would prefer if it was co-ed

My son has just been offered a place at Gunnersbury and I'm thrilled but nervous for him as he will not be going with any friends. So it was a relief to see the comments saying there are going to be other boys in his shoes! He will also have a journey to contend with, I hope we have made the right decision

M1909 · 04/03/2016 20:30

Glad to hear of other boys starting without their primary pals. Feeling bad as no one from his class going, but if there are loads of boys in the same boat it will hopefully be easier to make friends. Plus the induction day will be a great help. Fingers crossed it will be the best decision ever. Are any other boys nervous about leaving their friends

Hi again . Feeling more positive anybody from richmond Twickenham st Margaret's old isle worth going ?

cruusshed · 05/03/2016 16:17

Just to say that I work v near the school and have for years parked my car and walked through the streets nearby with the boys every morning. Can I just say I am so impressed with their delightful manners. I have never seen any agitation or incident in all those years! Parents and school should be v proud of the charming gentlemen that they are nurturing!

Just to say that three months into Gunnersbury School it was the right choice for our boy. Fantastic school, boys are really encouraged to work hard and rewarded as a result. Would totally recommend.
