If my child got their place from the waiting list does changing address affect that?

I am nervous about telling the school that we have moved.
Most I have asked in RL say it should not affect the place but.......what if they whip it away from her?

It depends what the school and LEA admissions say about moving after receiving offer and before starting. I think some do stipulate that a place can be withdrawn but it is unusual it's where you were living on x date type of thing.

They will not have different rules dependent on whether your place was given in the initial sweep or off the waiting list - unless you had actually moved after being placed on the waiting list perhaps?

Place was offered and accepted at old address.
Royal mail re- direction is in place

Be very very careful. All it needs is for someone else on the waiting list to dob you in and the place could be withdrawn.

It depends entirely on what the LA admission policy says.

Most say that the decision is based on the address at the time of the offer being made. If you were at that address then they cannot remove the place from you. However there are apparently some LAs, I think Bucks is one, that has some kind of minimum time commitment that you need to stay in the address that was pertinent at the time of the allocation. I would look very carefully through the LA admission criteria and all the rules surrounding that and see what that says. I would definitely not go asking school or the LA for advice as once they have some information they are required to act on it.

Once you know what the rules are, you can make your mind up what to do but it is obvious that as soon as you start at the school that your new address will become apparent.
