Hello. I've been trying to find out online how much the yellow school bus costs per year, but I can't find the info anywhere.

Does anybody know please, or have a rough idea?

Somebody mentioned around £600 per year but I don't know if that's accurate.

Thanks

From Chandlers Ford it's £280 per term. Hope that helps.

chic I thought you were a Thornden mum! Don't know why I did, mind...!

Lol! DC are still in primary school albeit a Thornden feeder. Funnily enough though I went to the Thornden open evening tonight just to have a look and see what I thought.

I only know the Kings bus fare as a friend of a friend didn't get her DS into Thornden and was offered a place at Kings, but they balked at the cost of getting the bus in. I took note as we're not in Thornden catchment at the mo so Kings would be an option for us too, but I hadn't considered the cost side of things - other than having to drive DC to Winchester all the time to meet up with their friends.

Is the train from Eastleigh up to W/ch and then walk up the Romsey road too far to be a realistic option? Might work out cheaper.

I used to walk from town when I was in Y9 and Y10 up to Kings though in my life in was still known as 2 schools - Montgomery for boys and Danemark for girls. Its not too far, took about 30 minutes I think.

We looked at both Kings and Thornden (and Mountbatten in Romsey). DS1 is going to Thornden in Sept (we deliberately bought in catchment in the end!) but the other two are very good but different, esp Kings and Thornden! Chalk'n'cheese.

The travel costs do add up, of course but I still reckon it's a price worth paying if it ensures better schooling!

And, for my money (pun!) I'd still get the yellow bus over the hassle and inconvenience of the train and a half hour walk!
