Hand holding needed - anxious over A level exams

DS realised on way to school that he had forgotten his calculator for his Chemistry exam .
While I hope the school will lend him one ,I just can't get picture of him wandering around school looking for help and missing start of exam .
You think it's not possible but you don't know my DS.
( or his useless school )

Well if they have any spare calculators they'll give him one - the calculations in the chemistry exam are relatively straight forward, its more knowing how you are supposed to calculate something rather than doing lots of complicated sums so not having a calculator is not the end of the world. DD1 forgot her calculator for her Biology exam last year, it just slowed her down and gave her a bit less time for the non calculation questions.

DD2 is in Chemistry this morning as well. Hope you are feeling a bit calmer now!

Vioetqueen - I am sure the school are very used to teenagers turning up without the proper equipment so will have spares available.

DS is taking Chemistry this morning as well, I hope they all do well, and that you are feeling less stressed. It's all over now anyway.(11am)

Does your DS have an exam tomorrow? Mine has no exams tomorrow, but 2 on Wednesday then only one left and that's not until the week after next, so roll on Wednesday eve and we can relax for a few days here.

Yes he went to school office ,and then the maths department and then ...bumped into science teacher who sorted him out .
Phew....and breathe...
So now it's Biology tommorrow ,Physics on Weds - we live in London and his school is a good hour away through traffic ,bites nails ....

oh good - hope it goes OK. Both my dc had maths/chemistry exams today, so we had a bit of an argument last night over who got which calculator until we found another 'good' one in the back of a cupboard.

DS has been checking on the Student Room, and has just told me of one student who thought the exam was this afternnon, so he's not only miised the exam, but the school say he has to pay the entry fee as he didnt sit it .

Just goes to show, there's always somebody worse off......

Best of luck with the rest of them - sorry no-one was around when you first needed reassurance - glad ds sorted it out. You will have to praise him a lot for doing the right thing! Hard not to focus on the initial cock-up (ie forgetting it) though, innit?

He was lucky to come away from studentroom feeling reassured JGB - it's not always the best place for a post exam boost from what I've been told (What? you put 3 for question 7b? It's blindingly obvious it should have been 5).
