How did you get into it? What are the highs and lows? Is workload greater than mainstream teaching? Is the emotional side hard to deal with? Any advice?
I'm a secondary teacher with 9 year's experience with various childcare breaks for the last 3 years. I'm seriously considering trying to get into SEN teaching. I was HOD before I had kids; decided to leave as at the time the workload not really compatible with our situation. Have done odds and sods since then and have just returned on a temporary part-time contract at my old school as mat cover.
I'm hoping to speak to the LSF at school to arrange a bit of work experience to help me decide and get further advice but thought I'd try the knowledge of MN as well.
