Personally I'm finding it very hard on me. I keep taking an emotional hit every time I ask about revision. What has helped has been to get dh on board, but he is a bit work-obsessed himself at the moment.

Anyone else?

Snorkie we are in the same boat, science and english lit are the only ones finished still have history ,geog,rs,drama and french as well as maths and english. He has three in one day in the week after half term

Isaidheyhoney · 28/05/2010 21:39

History is a b*gger because of the huge amounts to learn, and length of exams, and amount of writing required. I imagine Geography is much the same. Also the timetable for ds does get very heavy after half term, so he will be tired as well as busy. However, I appreciate that actually his timetable could've been worse.

I can remember just giving up in my O level history because I was just knackered and had had enough.

So, on the upside, lots more walks with dh...

Have a rest now that it is over for this year. You will have the coursework hassle back again for AS & A2. Remember ICT is almost all coursework and practically every other subject will have a coursework unit depending upon the board - even physics has marked praticals.

Jopeg · 30/05/2010 16:25

Who is it over for? It has only just begun...

Isaidheyhoney · 31/05/2010 23:48

How's everyone's revision going? Ds is going to a friend's on Thursday to revise together. Otherwise he appears to be doing some work at home [crosses fingers].

Hi Maths this afternoon anyone ??
Good luck

hennipenni · 07/06/2010 11:46

Yep, maths here too. And English tomorrow and Thursday and Maths again on Friday. Revision? Apparently non of her friends have done any which makes us nagging parents [hmmm]

sharbieinbackofthequattro · 07/06/2010 11:59

join me henni in the 'you're the only parent who does this club'

bourboncreme · 07/06/2010 12:04

We also have maths today, and tomorrow is a nightmare ,/english,French and RS.I am afraid we have rather lost the plot here ,panic seems to have set in in a big way ,I have sent him in this morning to school even though the exam isn't until after lunch in the hope that he will calm down a bit

HesterPrynne · 07/06/2010 12:40

The stress is all on my side, DD's coasting along, not a care in the world.

Can't get her to do more than a hour's revision a day. Just blown up at her as she has sat in front of the TV since 10am until now when I've come home to take her in for a 1pm maths exam.

Wouldn't mind so much but all she'll say on the matter is how upset she'll be if she doesn't get the grades to go the college she wants. But then does absolutely nothing to try and stop that happening.

And breathe.

sharbieinbackofthequattro · 07/06/2010 12:46

They just don't get it do they?

webwiz · 07/06/2010 12:59

Is your DS feeling any better today Bourboncreme?

hennipenni · 07/06/2010 13:23

DD's excuse for not revising is that she's "only" in year 10, so she thinks that she can coast this year and work harder next. They really don't get it do they?!

snorkie · 07/06/2010 13:48

ds has chemistry & maths today and english, french and latin tomorrow. He's done some work in half term - about a couple of hours more days than not but still seems very laid back and unstressed. He worked harder for his mocks so I hope he's doing enough. I'm not sure if he's not getting it or if he's just got complacent or if he really doesn't need to do too much work. DD has end of year school exams this week and has done virtually nothing - I suppose they don't matter in the same way though.

I do think it's our job to be a bit stressed on their behalf, especially if they're not.

sharbieinbackofthequattro · 08/06/2010 08:54

English lang here too today.Maths was ok yesterday - think DS said he didn't answer one or two questions.
He is starting to get really tired but unable to get to sleep very early.
Went to tutor for extra English last night and then did half an hour history revish with dad.
I had planned a bit more for last night but didn't have the heart to make him do any more.
Roll on Friday next week.

ddgm · 08/06/2010 09:28

Same here maths yesterday which is his worst subject has been going to a tutor weekly since Christmas but he came in and said he "Spooned it" (I think that's a good thing) but didn't like to check.
English today and apparently there is "nothing you need to revise for that" I do think there was but didn't push it.
More English and maths this week then dt and geography next week. Oh Joy!!!!!!!!!

sharbieinbackofthequattro · 08/06/2010 14:37

Joy indeed.Love the nothing you need to revise line - heard it so many times.
History tomorrow - he has done 1 hour sesh after English exam today and we will go through for an hour tonite and then into school early for 30 mins crammer before exam.
You know I am so feeling that we might be getting somewhere.Finally.

Good luck to everyone.

ddgm · 08/06/2010 14:53

HI
My younger one year 10 has got history tomorrow so i have to pre warn you he has told me in no uncertain terms that History is "The most unreviseable (is that even a word) subject invented its all common sense about how it felt to be in the trenches in ww1" so you may as well have the night off! I know my lovely 14 year old wouldnt be trying to get out of revising would he ?

roisin · 08/06/2010 16:22

AQA English papers so far have been very accessible - no problems with the questions. Hope your dcs have appreciated them!

sharbieinbackofthequattro · 08/06/2010 17:48

he he night off I wish - we are doing the history about medicine and the American west.
Ask me any date about medicine and I will be able to answer it .
I did WW1 for my history at school though back in the days of GCEs.

hennipenni · 08/06/2010 22:13

Sharbie, we've been doing about history of the American West too although DD doesn't have an exam tomorrow.

sharbieinbackofthequattro · 08/06/2010 22:41

I haven't started revising on that part of the subject yet Henni that joy is reserved for next week.
Public health all the way this evening.

sharbieinbackofthequattro · 09/06/2010 23:34

History went well - hope everyone doing ok.
English tomorrow afternoon - poetry I think.
Read through the 8 poems tonight - very relaxing (for a change) .

snorkie · 10/06/2010 09:17

friend of ds had an accident before French on Tue & sat exam covered in blood & feeling faint. He went to hospital instead of the next exam immediately following it & had internal bleeding . I think he's OK now, but has missed one exam & been unwell/shocked during another. Will the exam board make allowances do you think? What can they actually do?

sharbieinbackofthequattro · 10/06/2010 10:04

OMG poor thing - I'm sure they'll take it into account somehow - maybe resit??
