Usually for French orals the school have a period of time to complete them in - something like 15 March to 15 May so your DS should still be able to do his later.

Best of luck though as I'm sure its a but stressful with exams coming up.

thanks for that webwiz. He is attempting to 'attend' a french class tomorrow via skype but not sure how that will work and hopefully will do his mock exam this way.

His teacher will contact the exam board tomorrow and we'll see what happens.

Webwiz, you really do know everything educational. It seems to me that everytime I have an education question you come up with the answer

Well DD1 did do french A level and there was a long discussion last year about when was best to do the oral exam - DD1 favored not bothering at all and making up the marks in the other papers. Her oral mark ended up being so appalling (she did no preparation at all which is a long story) that she may as well have got her wish

The exam boards will have to make sure noone suffers through missing exams. There is going to be a lot of it.

thanks for the reassurance ladies.
The earliest DS can fly back to the UK (assuming skies open very soon) is 27th April and some of his friends are stuck in Hong Kong and can't get flights til 5th or 7th May

DD1 has been stranded in Rome since Friday. GCSE IT coursework was due today but have managed to get a 2 week extension to allow for the fact that unpressured Easter holiday time is worth more than busy, homework laden school time. Apparently, though, exam board is not being at all helpful so think leeway is due to school having been extra cautious.

Defo think exam boards should be taking this into account.

Has your DS got back to school yet Mumoverseas?

mumoverseas · 01/05/2010 13:35

Hi Webwiz
Yes thank you, him and DD1 finally got back to school Tuesday pm. The school thankfully arranged a mock exam for him on his return and have managed to change the real thing to next week. Lets hope the rather expensive week at the Paris language school before Easter pays off

Good luck to your DS for next week then (waves through the rain)

mumoverseas · 02/05/2010 13:22

ooh, is it raining there? Thought the weather was nice in the UK. We've had rain the last few days but its not nice as its orange.

Thank you for your good wishes
