Does anyone know anything about Westholme School in Blackburn? I've looked at various schools in the North West and I really like the look of Westholme for my daughter but haven't managed to find any reviews or opinions? Anyone got any pearls of wisdom?

Westholme is a good school, my niece goes there and has been going since she was in year 1. They are very much into drama , arts and singing, if you watched X factor it's where Diana Vickers went to school. I've watched a couple of the stage productions that they have put on in the fab theatre they have at the school. Teachers are very nice and caring to the girls. We live in a small close and 3 of the 4 girls on the close all go to Westholme. Hope this helps!

I didn't go there but know plenty who did. As private schools go it's got a fantastic reputation locally along with QEGS for boys. It's set in lovely grounds, has wonderful facilities for drama and sends plenty to Oxford/Cambridge.

Ooh thank you, I'm glad to see some positive feedback. I'm going for a look around with my daughter after the Easter holidays so will see what happens! The theatre and drama sounds fantastic as my daughter loves anything like that! She's also quite academic though and I want to make sure she's challenged in her academmic work as well, although if they send girls to Oxbridge then maybe that's a good indicator!

I had a brief look at QEGS and they seem to take girls as well as boys, is that a recent thing muminlondon?

I went to Wesdtholme many years ago and loved it. We moved south so DCs go to local schools but have often said would definitely send DD there if we ever moved back. I have quite a few friends still in Blackburn who have chosen to send their daughters there too!
