Teachers - how can one half term have seemed soooo long?

That's it really - those 2 days off with the snow seem an age away. I'm knackered.

Bring out the wine.

Thank the Lord! And I think we were the only school in the country that didn't have a snow day. Felt like it anyway...

Not a teacher but agree this half-term seemed long - usually I feel like Christmas hols are barely over before we are off again.

I was volunteering at school all day and am badly in need of a glass of wine & a take-away so can imagine how much you teachers need it tonight!

He gets a headache a couple of days before holidays and half-term - build up of stress/tiredness probably, not to mention the school running and OPtions evening til 10 last night (and he was in before 7am)

He was throwing up at options evening last night - in the breaks between parents he went off to the toilets and threw up.

Poor Laurie's DH. I was in very high spirits when I got home from work today! We didn't have a snow day and this half-term has been wretched - we had departmental review and one day, five members of the dept were in tears. Not good.

I don't think we've had a day without someone in our department crying this term. I have shouted at one of my colleagues . It's a horrible place to work right now. Half the department are applying for new jobs. I just want to give up

We've had a Team review too for the last 2 weeks and I was observed p4 today - non-uniform day too.
hence the knackeredness.

Yes, its been a long one. And I've had 3 snow days, one half day missed due to traffic problems and a day at home with an ill child. But it's here! And we've done the hardest half of the year now, downhill from here.

(Laurie - your dh needs to take care of himself, that sounds seriously Not Right)

Woohoo! Holidays! I had two unexpectedly free hours today, so my list of things to do before my holidays start got a LOT shorter. I still need to do a bit tonight, but not much, then it's holiday holiday holiday.

We've had several days of a number of teachers in tears. I've fallen to pieces myself twice in the last month (v v unlike me - am usually pretty 'hard'). It's been wretched.

We had an 'inspection' yesterday (my lessons were fine, thank goodness) and our days and workload are getting longer and bigger by the minute, it seems. I'm honestly not sure how much longer I can cope - and again, that is v v unlike me.

TFIF. I intend to do precisely nothing for a week, other than order some books.

Long? Seriously?

This half-term has whizzed by, especially with the snowdays. I don't feel tired at all by the term, and plan to go into school for most of next week. I don't normally feel like this, I hasten to add.

We had no snow days either. I'm done in. My usual end of term cold has arrived 2 days early, so I battled through the last two days with red eyes and nose.

I had one melt down, with tears. 2 of my team also had the same. One very emotional whole school tribute to a young yr 9 girl who died on Christmas Eve and Yr11 declared war on Yr10's! Oh and not to mention the stresses of getting the first round of exams done.

I really, really hope next term is relatively quite!

Poor DH Laurie. My DH has just finished a full Estyn (Ofstead in Wales) inspection and is now out getting totally trashed with a lovely bunch of people who haven't been able to eat or sleep properly since before christmas. I hope they have a fantastic time.
