Waiting for that secondary school letter (1st march?)

Is anyone else waiting for that letter with bainted breath? I'm terrified DS won't get into his first choice and don't know what we'll do if he doesn't.

Glad that you mentioned the password, onemoremum - will need to go and find where I wrote mine down!

I've just looked at our county council admissions website and it says 'if you applied online you be able to check the outcome of your request on offer day by logging in to the online admission service'

Not sure what time it will be available though..

Will be obsessively checking from the moment I get up!

Our LEA says results available from 7am on Tuesday on the on-line admissions site (London one), and emailed sometime before noon the same day. What's the betting the admissions site crashes at 7am?

titchy, apparently it crashed last year - a friend of a friend couldn't get on till after 8, so don't hold your breath

We had our letter this morning and we've got a place at the school we wanted. I'm one Happy Mummy!
Good Luck to everyone for Monday.

I am another one waiting with baited breath - our problem is that our nearest schools are under one council, while we are across the border in another so we miss out on the catchment points, no siblings either and schools are heavily oversubscribed.

Would be overjoyed if 1st or 2nd choice (but sensibly thinking we have no chance), 3rd choice is good too - apparently improving all the time and just had a shedload of money spent on it to improve the facilities BUT 4th choice which is in our district has just been put into special measures

We are moving in April to 3rd choice catchment area so I suppose there is always the appeals procedure.

I hope that I am posting similar good news on Monday!

Our results were available on-line at 8pm, DH had the alarm clock set for 7:59

DDs got her out-of-catchement grammar school place! Yay!

Congratulations to everyone who has had good news already. I am so

Good luck everyone - let's report back on Monday for back-patting / hand-holding depending on the outcomes

For anyone in Kent who applied online - apparently there is a glitch in the system which is letting people know the results early (see this thread on the 11+ website). Log on and then go to 'printer friendly' version and it will tell you your allocation.

creditcrunched - that is because letters posted on Monday won't arrive until Tuesday. That way everyone gets their result on the same day. Makes sense, non?

Oh don't say that Tilly - I've already told my boss I won't be in till I know. Don't want to be really late for work! (Or dd for school for that matter).

Just join thread with anticipation.

DD1 gets her results one minute past midnight on 1st March. Everyone who asked for letters instead of emails will have to wait another 2-3 days. Don't know how they can stand the extra wait!

Am very clenchy at the moment.

deaddei · 27/02/2010 18:24

I will not be home till 5pm- so no one will know till then.

gingertoo · 27/02/2010 18:44

0Oooh, chaostrulyreigns - have you been told that you can find out at one minute past midnight? Is that by email or by logging onto the admissions system?
We have been told that we can log onto the admissions system on 1st March to check our allocation but have not been given a time.

May have to stay up til midnight to check just in case...

I am starting to sound a bit manic

LOL - IO just came to tell people abount the Kent glitch - we just found out dd's place - we got what we expected - 3rd choice - but we couldn't have got 1st & 2nd anyway as they arwe grammar and she missed by the 1 point - appeals beckon.
But it must be correct in that case - GO CHECK!

Report
gingertoo · 27/02/2010 21:41

Oh I'm definitely going to stay up tomorrow night then - just in case

I'm still wondering what I'll do with the information at 12:01am, but at least I'll know!!

As there is supposed to be a universal time of declaring the places offered (1st March), I suspect that Kent and any other LA that has disclosed admission places early is going to have some explaining to do!

Report
toothgenie · 27/02/2010 22:04

I had notification yesterday (27th), I'm in Leicestershire.

Report
QOD · 27/02/2010 22:47

Well admission, it's a system error, so it's whoever provided the system NOT the LA thats disclosed it - you know?
Either way, we got what we expected and one of my friends is over the moon early about hers!
