Waiting for that secondary school letter (1st march?)

Is anyone else waiting for that letter with bainted breath? I'm terrified DS won't get into his first choice and don't know what we'll do if he doesn't.

Found out why no contact - all the systems broke and no emails have been sent.

I phoned though and they were happy to tell me that DD had got into our first choice - girl's excellent grammar 1 mile from our house.

4madboys

dont know if you will see this before the morning but if you can remember your login details go to the online registration page
www.admissionsonline.norfolk.gov.uk/Enrol550_Secure/default.aspx hopefully link will work.
login and it should be displaying your details and next to your choices which school has been offered from your choices.

site was saying after 4pm for results but was gone half past and still havent had an email either but at least you will be able to find out and hopefully get a decent nights sleep.

good luck

GrungeBlobPrimpants · 01/03/2010 21:35

At long last got the email at 8.45 - ds got our second choice (actually the one he wants), we are very happy with that and won't bother to go on continuing interest for our original first choice.

Thinking of all of you yet to hear. Congrats to all who got their choice and those who didn't - been in that position before, it is shit but don't give up hope yet.

valleyqueen · 01/03/2010 21:35

I am going to join you all. I am in London and am obsessively checking the website. I need distraction.

titchy · 01/03/2010 22:35

London system has crashed. This does not bode well

jenduff · 01/03/2010 22:58

How annoying for all of you that have been waiting and are still waiting.

How can the LEA fail to see that they are going to get lots of hits to their website on allocation day so many of my friends have spent the day wringing their hands and shouting at a screen and still don't know where their DC are going.

I was going to get up early tomorrow to check on our result, looks like I should stay in bed as chances are, its not going to work anyway.

Wish I could just find out now and go to bed knowing.

frogs · 01/03/2010 23:04

The pan-london admissions site is down, and I'm sure won't be back up by 7am.

Feckers.

Kbear · 01/03/2010 23:18

Faints with stress of the London site crashing - I'm leaving the house tomorrow at 7.10 am and won't be able to see the letter until after Brownies tomorrow night at 8pm. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH

MsDav · 01/03/2010 23:50

Cat64, The head of Kent LEA confirmed that the results WERE correct. Twas on the BBC website.

sb6699 · 01/03/2010 23:51

Managed to get into the LEA website at 18.50 after trying all day - still no e-mail though.

Got our 3rd choice which I am still really happy with as we are outwith the catchment(even different LEA) for our first 3 choices which are all really good and heavily oversubscribed.

Our designated school isnt traditionally seen as good as our first two choices but is improving all the time, has had shedloads of money spent on it, and looking at the UK is still well above average.

Will probably be where most of DS' friends will be going too he is happy as well

If we hadnt got into these we would more than likely have been allocated a place in a school which was put into special measures last week.

Sorry for all those who are still waiting - it is really frustrating.

valleyqueen · 02/03/2010 06:52

Is anyone else swearing at the pc. This is so unfair it's crashed.

Enchilada81 · 02/03/2010 06:56

Not happy. Was waiting at the PC, refreshing my email for the best part of yesterday ... nothing. Why do they say 1st of march if they can't manage that?

With out stupid council there isn't even an option to log in to the admissions thing.

At this rate, the letter will arrive before the email.

7:04 and the London website is down. I knew that would happen, but had to check anyway.

valleyqueen · 02/03/2010 07:08

So annoying. We like all of our choices but that means nothing we might not even get them. I have left DD at the pc pressing refresh lol

Mimiso · 02/03/2010 07:11

How annoying, got everything ready really early so that I could log on to e-admissions and the site is down. How annoying is that aaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrgggghhhhh. Why cant they ever get anything right

creditcrunched · 02/03/2010 07:19

I don't think its crashed, I think they took it down themselves and it won't be up until just before school starts, so that online applicants don't have an advantage over postal ones.

valleyqueen · 02/03/2010 07:20

Ours says from 7am though.

kid · 02/03/2010 07:22

I just got an email (7:16) from them, DD got her first choice

frogs · 02/03/2010 07:24

Congratulations kid! Did your email come from Hackney or from e-admissions?

passmyglassplease · 02/03/2010 07:34

arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhh

damm system is down

you would think that they would put measures in place so that it didn't crash, as they must have an idea on the volume of applicants

Enchilada81 · 02/03/2010 07:37

I'm getting very frustrated. If the council have used 2nd class postage, the letter won't even come to day.

I'm going to phone the council at 9am and ask where my email is.

I don't want to have to mug the postman.

creditcrunched · 02/03/2010 07:42

Email just came in from the from pan admissions. We are very happy!

TheCheeseAlarm · 02/03/2010 07:43

We just got our email - 2nd choice - we are in Hackney too.
