Year 10 parents evening - should we take dd to it?

I guess the answer to this is yes, but we have the option for them to attend or not, I think I would like her to be there as we could discuss any problems and queries with her there, what have other MNers done?

When mine were that age I let them choose wether they wanted to come or not.

I like it when both the parents and child are there at parents' evenings. If there are any problems, it means there isn't an 'I say, you say' thing going on and we can discuss it with all parties present, and if I have nice things to say, that's even better.

At my sons' school, they have to be there, in full uniform too!

I think it is better if they are for the reasons TFM gave. They are old enough to be able to hear whatever is said about them I think, unless you have a very sensitive issue to raise which would be easier mentioned in private first?

Mine too Dumbledore, we have a 3 hour marathon on Tuesday to get through. It has been expected from Yr 7 that he would attend. ( Incidently, as a primary teacher we prefer our children to be in on the discussion too and certainly would expect them to be there from yr 3 onwards)
