health and social studies GCSE

My daughter has to choose options and is adamant she wants to do health and social studies. She is a bright pupil and the school is advising not to do this if she is planning to go to university or to do A levels as it takes up 2 modules.

Does anybody have any experience of this and its implications for further education, please?

Thanks

I have worked in admissions on a AAA type uni course that is vaguely related to this subject and I would advise against it. Sound like she is getting sensible advice from the school.
What subjects would she have to drop to do this course?
Does she have a particular degree/career in mind. Many uni courses give out info on their gcse requirements.

I teach H&SC and would advise against it unless she is thinking of a career in health care related profession i.e. nursing/midwifery. If she has the ability she should opt for the sciences.
