I am looking to see if anyone knows of any school in Southern England (well anywhere really I am not fussy) that offer the IB and rowing. There do not seemto be anywhere!
Many thanks

Presumably private ?

LouIsAWeetbixKid · 13/11/2009 15:43

It does not matter. Schools seems to offer one or the other but not both. Why DC picked such a rarely offered sport I do not know

Whitgift School in Croydon claims to offer rowing and I'm fairly certain they offer the IB but it's around £13k pa

Kings College School, Wimbledon, definitely does IB and has rowing as one of its sports. Day school and pricey, though.

peanutbutterkid · 13/11/2009 18:51

Bromsgrove.

YorkshireRose · 14/11/2009 00:01

Both the schools mentioned are boys schools. Is your bosses DC a boy?

senua · 14/11/2009 09:26

Does it have to be a school? Will a sixth form college do?

mimsum · 14/11/2009 10:53

Whitgift definitely offers IB and has a rowing club, but tbh it's not one of their main sports, i.e. it's co-curricular rather than being part of the PE syllabus. It does have a splendid gym though with loads of rowing machines, which the rowers do a lot of training on. Emanuel does a lot of rowing, but not IB ...

hobbbledehoyowner · 26/11/2009 13:11

What is IB ?

Spidermama · 26/11/2009 13:13

I was just going to ask that Hobble.

choosyfloosy · 26/11/2009 13:19

International baccalaureate.

Tonbridge Girls' Grammar School does IB and there are rowing clubs in the town, does that help??

Lady Eleanor Holles School for girls does rowing bigtime and is about to start offering the AQA Baccalaureate?

choosyfloosy · 26/11/2009 13:21

England and Wales - schools doing IB

Goldolphin and Latymer do rowing, they are 2 mins from the Thames.

choosyfloosy · 26/11/2009 13:25

Have a poke around the results page for the National Schools Regatta.

slummymummy36 · 29/11/2009 14:38

Cheltenham Ladies College offer both.

Needmoresleep · 29/11/2009 17:08

Kings Wimbledon will be taking girls in the sixth form soon.

Latymer Upper, with boat house within school grounds, dont offer IB but are adjusting their 6th form to bring in some elements of IB eg extended project and community work, though still allowing scientists to do lots of science A levels. Will also be giving up doing AS in first year 6th.
