Can someone help with these A'level and GCSE results pls?

Can someone give me a score for this school on academic excellence just looking at these results?

10 being excellent, 1 being poor (am sure you knew that)!

Am new to looking at school results and want to try to get things clear in my head. I can then see how people generally view as per their experience at other schools etc! Thanks in advance!

It is a non selective, independent school. (Is it better to go for a selective one if DC can cope with that even if the ethos at non selective better)?

What do you think given these results?

A' level

65 children took a total of 23 subjects:

41% got a grade A
72% got a grade A or B
9% got all As

At GCSE 88 students took a total of 18 subjects

25% Grade A*
74% A-A*
93% A*-B

Well for GCSEs I'd give it 9. But would check how many didn't get at least a C in maths,english & science.

A levels not as good and would want to see which subjects they were in.

88 pupils at GCSE seems a very small number. Mine go to a school with around 500 entered.
Some may think that's too many and they may be right but 88 in a secondary school year is too few IMO.

Don't just go on results. DD got into a hihgly selective independent school and also into one which concentrates on a more broad education (she won a major academic scholarship to the latter). But she/we chose the latter.

I'd give it a six out of ten. Not tremendously academic, but may well be value added for the less able student.
(For A2 my DS1's old highly academic school has been getting over 50% all As for years and over 60% A* at GCSE - and the students take most of the more "difficult" subjects either as iGCSEs or a year early).
88 students for GCSE would be either a 3 or 4 form entry which is not unusual in independent schools. 65 for A Level might mean that A Level choices were restricted.

I don't think the stats are relevant unless you have a table that lists grade attained in particular subjects - dpends what you're looking for.

If 'soft' subejcts, then it's not that fab. If 'hard' subjects then that's good ... Though of course schools are more than just results

Some 6h forms can be better for some subjects than others, too. Quite a few pupils move after GCSE anyway depending on their specialism.
