I spoke to someone today at CFS and they said that its a 'school bus' that picks up from pickup points around the town and takes the kids to school, there is an adult on the bus at all times, and that I have to put our nearest bus stop on the form. Our nearest one is just up the road so fabby for DS1 who has cerebral palsy and can't walk distances, but does anyone's child go on these 'school buses' and will they make sure Ds1 is safely sat down before heading off and will someone help him with his wheelchair?

I work in a secondary special school so maybe a different situation - but the vast majority of our students arrive by 'school coach' (probably 8 different routes)- all will have coach escorts that supervise students getting on and off the buses, behaviour, etc etc. They are all CRB checked as well and have good relationship with our head so that problems are picked up on quickly(if there are any!) . There will be a school transport section at your education authority, give them a call, am sure they'll answer your questions

If there isn't a helper on the bus, why don't you contact the school and see if any 6th formers take it? They are often given the task of helping Yr7's settle in generally and would probably be happy to help out your ds with this specific thing.
