Just seems very early to me and not well timed. They're tired because it's end of term and they also it takes a few days to get used to the clock changing.

oh that's a bit grim.
At my school we are all utterly exhausted: this term has been such a long haul. Exams this week is very tough.

I wondered if it was something to do with them cancelling KS3 sats from next year and to get them started on GCSEs early. The rest of the school don't have exams until much later.

We have ours first or second week after half term in early June. Now does seem rather early, I suppose anything they learn next term will be examined in year 9?

On the plus side, at least their summer term will be stress free.

We have our 7-9 examinations in the second half of the summer term, but before all the craziness of the end of school year (eg sports day, concert rehearsals etc).

I can see an advantage of the school having them now, so that they can knuckle down to real work in the summer term rather than the switching off that you can so easily get when you do them late.

There's never a good time to do examinations - before a holiday, they are tired and after a holiday, the holiday gets spoilt with the revision.
