Have asked my dd school for the last 3 years GCSE results by subject to try and help with the minefield of options - the school have refused saying they are not a good indicator?!, does anyone know if we can obtain them from the school before I go back to them on this as dh thinks we are entitled due to the freedom of infomation act

Thanks

FiMac

You can ask but it doesn't really matter. A subject can have any number of reasons for their results. Changing teachers, changing curriculum, the abilities of the students, whether or not they were taught on Friday last period etc.

Best thing to do is pick subjects your dd is happy with and doing well in but don't pick teachers you like because they might not be teaching the GCSE class.

Or you could try approaching the Heads of Dept individually.

Most schools around here seem to give the results out freely with their prospectus. Could you ask a friend to phone up and request a prospectus and see if they are in it?
