Opening Minds Curriculum or the Royal Society of Arts Equivalent - Is It Rubbish Or Am I Missing Something

A growing number of schools in Year 7 (and above??) are introducting variants on the Opening Minds curriculum. I have seen this in action, briefly, and have read the RSA stuff on the matter - is it a waste of time for the children or am I missing something?

Teachers views please

Bumping for you.

My old school adapted the opening minds curriculum for Year 7 in their cross curricular timetable.

It could be very good althoug. it frustrated me in that it was designed in my old school for those students who could not or woudl not behave in class and I think there was some quite serious dumbing down and a failure to stretch our more able students.

twinsetandpearls - thank you. Based on what I have seen in classrooms I tend to agree with you. Is it linked to the aims-based curriculum movement - you know the one that says teaching english or maths or history is a distraction from learning about teamwork, roles in society etc
